Some months ago we started from this place—the Mormon Trail in Wyoming. Our intention was to tell the story of the Latter-day Saints and their journey across this trail to a new home in the West. And that we have done. We’ve discussed the trail and its people and events. We’ve taken meaningful side journeys with the Mormon Battalion, the Ponca saints, the Donner Party, and others. And now, we have, in a way, come to the end of that trail; President Young and the Pioneers have found the right place to which the others will subsequently gather. The Trail has been laid. However, it is one thing to know of the trail and another matter entirely to know what it means.
