United States President James Buchanan mistakenly considered the Latter-day Saints in Utah to be in a state of rebellion and sent an army to put them down. In this episode we will follow Johnston’s army in their trek to Utah, as well as show the reactions of the Saints in Utah to the army’s arrival. But first, the Utah War did not occur in a historical vacuum. The country was plunging headlong toward civil war.
