Description
“It is the duty of Congress to prohibit in the territories those twin relics of barbarism, polygamy and slavery” That was the key plank of the newly formed Republican Party, delivered June 17, 1856 at Music Fund Hall in Philadelphia. Within a short time the nation was plunged deep into Civil War to decide the question of slavery, and we know what happened. In this episode of History of the Saints we will tell the story of the war that went forth against the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and its members, to eradicate their practice of plural marriage.
