Description
On the morning of October 21, 1856 Captain James Willie and Joseph Elder led the relief wagons into their camp at the sixth crossing of the Sweetwater River. The company was suffering terribly. Several had died and more would likewise succumb. Though the company had been found they were not yet safe. In some respects the worst of the ordeal was yet in front of them. But for the moment the rescuers were greeted as angels from heaven when they entered the camp. This episode tells the story of the rescue of the Willie Company.
