Description
The Law of Consecration was a new economic order among the Saints, first revealed in Doctrine and Covenants 42; the fundamental principles of which are agency, accountability, and stewardship. The Law was implemented both in Missouri under the direction of Bishop Edward Partridge, and in Kirtland under Bishop Newel K. Whitney. Of necessity there had to be some kind of organized corporate entity to oversee the varied and far-flung financial interests of the growing Church, and that is the story of this episode—the story of the United Firm.
