Description
Moroni was the ancient prophet who finished the record on gold plates and hid it up unto the Lord. Centuries later, that same Moroni, now a resurrected being and holding the keys of the record of the stick of Ephraim, authorized, and empowered Joseph Smith to translate the Book of Mormon. It was between April 7 and July 1 of 1829 that Joseph and Oliver Cowdery translated that record. For much of that work they were living in Harmony, Pennsylvania. While they translated their eyes were open to many new things. Nearly six years earlier Moroni had given Joseph this promise–“Behold, I will reveal unto you the priesthood, by the hand of Elijah the Prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.” That promise was yet to be fulfilled. And then somewhere around May 15, 1829…
