June 1, 1833, Joseph Smith received a revelation that chastened Church members for not building the Kirtland House of the Lord. On June 5, Hyrum broke ground and by July 23, 1833, a cornerstone ceremony was held. There were only about 150 members of the Church at that time in Kirtland.  From July to October construction progressed on the sandstone foundations. The Temple would be finally completed by March 1836. This is the story of its construction.
